Coworking on CNN →
Overall a pretty good piece (idiotic Led Zepelin / bong comment aside).  I’ve been reading a ton on coworking lately and wondering if it would fly in Salt Lake.

I generally avoid onion rings for one reason alone: my first bite usually pulls the entire soggy onion out of it’s batter shell. And that makes Justin one sad panda. So I ordered “A Very Large Hamburger” topped with onion rings with a bit of trepidation.  Fortunately the dudes in the kitchen know some secret voodoo to prevent the naked onion problem. And even though...

Equipment for Ben Saunders' North Pole expedition →
I heard about this guy a while back. Read about his new speed record attempt here. I’m sure Dave will be happy to see he’s taking a shotgun for bear safety.

This has me rethinking Cam and Kris’ invitation for my maiden voyage to the “dunes” next week.  Thinking of 35,000 f-dudes in one place scares me silly.

You Weren't Meant to Have a Boss →
From the always excellent Paul Graham. And I think this applies to lots of different types of people, not just programmers.  ”An obstacle downstream propagates upstream. If you’re not allowed to implement new ideas, you stop having them. And vice versa: when you can do whatever you want, you have more ideas about what to do. So working for yourself makes your brain more powerful in...

Pandora Radio →
Pandora’s been around a while, but I don’t think it’s as popular as it deserves to be. Think of it as a radio that you can finely tune by creating different stations based on artists that you like. Anyway, give it a try.

Check it, his tombstone says he died 9-22-2004, the same day the plane crashed. J-Dog is still on the island.

My favorite book this week
Discover Your Inner Economist I’ve read Tyler Cowen for a while now over at Marginal Revolution, but it took me a while to pick up his book.Easy to read and full of interesting facts. Although some topics are covered in a brisk manner, overall I would say there is enough here to win over people who have no interest in economics.

My favorite movie this week
Into the Wild A HUGE suprise. I fully expected to hate it.  Let’s see: based on a book by Krakauer adapted and directed by Sean Penn about a spoiled brat who reads a little Thoreau, and, because he’s mad at his parents, decides to punish them by disappearing for a couple years. That’s three strikes against it. Why I decided to watch it is anyone’s guess.  But I’m...
