Xterra Challenge
I lost my mind temporarily and signed up for the Xterra Challenge this summer. A sane person would ease into it, maybe start with “Sport” category which is half the race. Nope, I’m going for gold. My friend Dave is the only one crazy enough to join me.
Now the reality of my decision is setting in as my workout schedule begins to ramp up. Although I’ve heard the biking trail is pretty brutal, these tree trunks I call legs should should get me through.
The swimming, however, freaks me out. Sophomore year in high school I was on the BEHS dive team. During a swim meet, one of the teams fell short a member, so they asked me, a diver, to sub. Big mistake. We were in the lead when I started my leg but by the time I finished, everyone had gone home. Yeah, that bad.
Anyway, the point of this post is to make my intention public so I don’t weasel out later. If you see me in June, ask me how my training is going.
(Yes, I’m using social disgrace to prevent me from quitting. Sad but effective.)
